About me
I am Linda Halbert, a Professional Artist now living in Spain.
I graduated in the UK in 1996, fairly late in life by normal standards, gaining a First Class Honours Degree in Art and Design from Caerleon University, Wales and a City & Guilds Teaching Certificate from Bath University.

My husband and I have a beautiful old house which used to be a bodega (winery) and is close to a small town called Pinoso or El Pinos as its sometimes known. It is set in a stunning region surrounded by grape vines and distant rugged mountains which I have found to be an ideal setting for inspiring my works of art.
I have an art studio in the part of the old bodega attached to our home which was where the wine used to be made and stored but now has a great new use!
When I lived in the UK I taught art to adults and children alike for many years and have continued this here in Spain with both English and Spanish students. I take great pleasure in communicating in a way that makes the subject easily understandable to absolute beginners.
To help students get started I have developed a method which focuses on using a minimum of materials for simplicity and to reduce the student’s initial outlay, although I do recommend good quality materials to ensure the finished works are not compromised.
Besides teaching I have always produced commissions in any medium and of any subject required, the vast majority of which have been portraits of children, adults and animals although there have been many other subjects.
I have always loved art and painting and have tried to remain versatile in utilizing watercolours, oils and pastels. I have also created specialty pieces in fleece, fibres and other media. Although it has to be said my passion is to paint watercolours and oils in an impressionistic, free flowing style.
Although painting forms the main part of my life, I also teach crafts and hold holistic meditation workshops. I have used a combination of these techniques to promote wellbeing in terms of learning how to reduce stress and manage pain.
Last year I had greetings cards and postcards made from some of my paintings and have them for sale locally. For special occasions, such as weddings I produce glass engravings by hand where each glass, for example, would have a small emblem and wording special to the event.
I have held very successful painting weekends at my country house and more recently I have started to offer ‘tailor made’ painting holidays, as part of which a student could also incorporate meditation and many other forms of relaxation techniques. All artists know that working on a painting is a great way to relax and is therefore a form of meditation in itself. My aim is that my holidays are not only perfect for artistic development but are also a truly relaxing experience leading to a more enriched lifestyle.
